With the first day of E3 2014 about to commence in downtown Los Angeles, Disney Interactive has announced the first major expansion to the upcoming "Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes": a "Spider-Man Play Set," introducing Spider-Man, Venom, Nick Fury, Nova and Iron Fist as playable characters, each with their own figurine to activate within the game.

Spider-Man was already known to be playing a part in "Disney Infinity," after appearing in the initial trailer, along with Green Goblin. These newly announced additions and visual designs bring a very strong element of the current Disney XD animated series "Ultimate Spider-Man" to the game -- White Tiger, Luke Cage and Black Cat are also set to appear in the Play Set as (for now) non-playable characters. Along with Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Mysterio also appear in the Play Set's trailer.

As established in the trailer, the Play Set's main story sees Green Goblin and Mysterio cloning Venom's symbiote, and unleashing the results on New York City. The Spidey characters will also be usable in the game's customizable "Toy Box" mode, where players can create their own environments and adventures.

According to the trailer, the "Spider-Man Play Set," like the "Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes" base game, has a rough release date of Fall 2014. Spider-Man and Nova are included in the Play Set; Nick Fury, Venom and Iron Fist will be sold separately.

In further "Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes" news, it was announced during Sony's presentation on Monday that the Hulk will be a timed exclusive for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 -- available on those systems first, before later branching out to a wide release.
