Ever since actress/singer Zendaya was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, questions have swirled around her role. Although the possibility of her secretly playing May Jane Watson was dismissed, filmmakers and the cast had managed to keep the last name of her character Michelle a secret -- until now.

Movie Pilot reports the leaked junior novelization of the film reveals Michelle's last name is Toomes, indicating she's the daughter of the film's primary antagonist Adrian Toomes, aka the Vulture. That would certainly make sense, as Vulture actor Michael Keaton has remained coy when asked about his character's motivations.

While a lot of the speculation about Zendaya's character, one of Peter Parker's classmates, had leaned toward Mary Jane Watson, some fans had guessed she might be a younger version of Michelle Rodriguez, a police officer who dated an older Peter Parker at one point in Marvel Comics canon.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Arriving in theaters July 7, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming also stars Tom Holland, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
