The 20-year-old actor was presented with the trophy Sunday in London during the British Academy Film Awards ceremony. He joins such previous Rising Star recipients as James McAvoy, Tom Hardy and John Boyega.

Aside from the honor of winning the award, Holland also met Andrew Garfield, the actor who previously donned the Spider-Man suit for Sony Pictures. Holland described the brief encounter as “really, really nice."

"Andrew is a really lovely guy -- everything I thought he would be," he continued. "He is a brilliant actor too. I have always been a fan of his work.” Of course, Garfield is also a fan of Holland, and is ooking forward to the upcoming Spider-Man film himself.

Directed by Jon Watts from a script by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. The film swings into theaters on July 7.
