Spartacus: War of the Damned might be the final season for the hit Starz series, but that doesn't mean the end for the entire franchise.

A new report from Deadline claims there's "talk about a potential Spartacus spinoff series centered on Roman lead Gaius Julius Caesar." Executive producer Robert Tapert is the man behind this idea, which he came up with alongside Spartacus creator Steven DeKnight.

Australian actor Todd Lasance will be introduced as Caesar in War of the Damned, and response to his character will likely sway the decision whether a spinoff gets picked up.

In other Spartacus news, Entertainment Weekly has debuted a new poster for the upcoming season. Based on the blood spatter, we're guessing that Spartacus: War of the Damned won't end with a happily ever after.

The series picks up following the defeat of Roman commander Gaius Claudius Glaber as Spartacus and his followers amass a series of major victories that not only forge the gladiator’s legend but increase the ranks of the rebellion to more than 30,000.

Spartacus: War of the Damned sees returning stars Liam McIntyre (Spartacus), Manu Bennett (Crixus), Dustin Clare (Gannicus), Dan Feuerriegel (Agron), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Naevia) and Ellen Hollman (Saxa), joined by Todd Lasance as Gaius Julius Caesar, Simon Merrells as Marcus Crassus, and Anna Hutchison as Laeta.

The series returns Friday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Starz.
