After leaving Spartacus: Blood and Sand to pursue continued treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Andy Whitfield has left the Starz series without a leading man. But according to one report, a certain Prison Break star has his eye on the blood and sand.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Wentworth Miller “has expressed interest in taking over the title role” in Spartacus: Blood and Sand, taking over the iconic character from the widely loved Whitfield. No deals have been made beyond Miller’s reported expression of interest. If Miller does wind up in the Starz series, it would be his first starring television role since playing brilliant fugitive Michael Scofield on Prison Break. He was recently seen as Chris Redfield in Resident Evil: Afterlife.
More cerebral than physically intimidating, Miller isn’t necessarily the first choice one thinks of when it comes to Spartacus. But after bulking up at the gym for a few months, perhaps Miller’s quiet, methodical intensity is exactly what the Starz series needs.
