Elysium is coming closer to reality, as Neill Blomkamp's latest has found a distributor in the form of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Deadline reports that Sony and Blomkamp's team came to an agreement on a distribution deal yesterday after the director spent several hours pitching his next science fiction movie to various studios and distributors around Hollywood. In the end, Blomkamp was able to forge an agreement with the same folks who distributed his breakout hit, District 9.

"I literally could not be happier," Blomkamp said in a statement. "I have a brilliant relationship with Sony. I loved them during District 9, they 100% get this film and they get me. Elysium is in very good hands."

Little is known about the story of Elysium beyond the fact that it's set 100 years in the future on a faraway world. Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley are starring in the film, which will have its sets designed by the legendary Syd Mead of Blade Runner fame. Already being described by some along the same lines as Inception, Blomkamp's latest is definitely a project to keep your eye on, folks.
