Joe and Anthony Russo's stars continue to rise as Sony Pictures have acquired the brothers' action/thriller "Ciudad," with offers out to Matthew McConaughey to star.

According to the Tracking Board, the directors of the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity War" films for Marvel Studios penned the project with Matthew Milam overseeing for Sony and Kelly McCormick overseeing for Sierra/Affinity.

Based on a graphic novel written by the Russos, Ande Parks and Fernando Leon, the film centers on Tyler Rake, a mercenary and kidnapping extractor hired by a drug lord to rescue his daughter from Ciudad del Este.

The search is currently underway for a director.
