Have you ever wondered what side of the Force the DC Trinity would fall on? Well, wonder no more! “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder has combined “Batman v Superman” footage with “Star Wars” audio and lightsaber effects in a mashup video he titled “Dark Side Knight v Superjedi: Dawn of the Alliance.”
As in the original film, Batman and Superman go head-to-head, but their objective here is a little different. Batman wants Superman to “embrace the Dark Side,” but Superman — complete with a green lightsaber — isn’t having any of it. The video also includes a few other nods to the “Star Wars” canon, including a shot of the Darth Vader costume in the Batcave and a dozen or so audio clips from the original films.
Snyder initially released the video on the social media app Vero. In the app, Snyder captioned the video, describing it as a nod to “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which is due to hit theaters this month. “In anticipation of Rogue One, I wanted to share a little Star Wars fan film I made after J.J. released his Hunka Junk mash-up,” he wrote. “Long overdue.”
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is now available for purchase. Starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn and more, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” opens December 16.
