In a move that will undoubtedly surprise many, Fox has renewed "Sleepy Hollow" for a fourth season.

The announcement follows third season that saw not only the departure of Zach Appelman but also ended with the controversial death of Nicole Beharie's Abbie Mills.

Tom Mison will return as Ichabod Crane in Season 4, joined by Lyndie Greenwood as Jenny Mills, Lance Gross as Daniel Reynolds and Jessica Camacho as Sophie Foster. There's no mention of Nikki Reed, who played Betsy Ross.

"Sleepy Hollow" was a breakout series in its first season, but its ratings have slipped considerably since then. There's no word yet as to how many episodes were ordered, or whether the fourth season is intended as the drama's last.
