Paragon Releasing has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for "Clinger," the teen horror comedy that premiered in January a the Slamdance Film Festival. TheWrap reports the distributor plans an October release.

Directed by Michael Steves, "Clinger" stars Jennifer Laporte has a high school student whose life goes from bad to worse when her possessive boyfriend (Vincent Martella) dies in a gruesome accident, only to return as a lovesick ghost determined to kill her so they can spend eternity together.

Written by Steves, Gabi Chennisi Duncombe and Bubba Fish, the film also stars Julia Aks, Alica Monet Caldwell, Shonna Major, Debbie Rochon and Lisa Wilcox.
