Official Press Release
Kat Kan, graphic novel reviewer for VOYA (Voice Of Youth Advocates) magazine, has named both Paul Sizer’s “LITTLE WHITE MOUSE” and “MOPED ARMY” graphic novels to her list of the best 24 graphic novels she’s reviewed in her “Graphically Speaking” column over her 12 year career with the magazine.
Kan’s tenure as a reviewer at VOYA magazine has made the growing number of graphic novels in the market more visible to the librarians of the world, and her rating systems and recommendations have become a mainstay of most teen services librarians’ as a resource for buying manga and graphic novels for their libraries. She has been a strong supporter of Paul’s graphic novel work over the years, and the inclusion of his work on her “Best Of” list is an honor.
“I’m blown away that my books are being placed alongside what I consider to be the cream of the crop, and it’s an honor to be in such good company.” said Sizer upon seeing the article in the latest issue of VOYA (December 2006 issue). “Kat has always fought hard for good comics to find a place in the libraries of the nation, and her attention to my work has done nothing but help it to get into more reader’s hands. Her list reads nearly like my own list of what I consider to be great work done in the graphic novel field.”
Kat’s list appears a month before the announcement of the finalists for the American Library Association’s annual “Best Books For Young Adults” and “Great Graphic Novels for Teens” awards in January of 2007. Sizer’s “MOPED ARMY” graphic novel is nominated for both awards.
