SIN CITY 2
Director Robert Rodriguez offers The Playlist an update on the long in development sequel. “We have a script for ‘Sin City 2’ and we just needed to round it out a little bit more, brought in [William Monahan] to try and solve some things,” he says. You may remember Monahan as the writer of “The Departed.” Rodriguez recruited him to help with the film’s structure. “Like before we had three different stories that we were trying to meld together and he took a pass at it for a couple of weeks and now Frank [Miller] is doing his pass.” Insert your favorite joke about “The Spirit” here. My pitch:”My screenplay screams! She is my mother! She is my lover! And I am her writer!”

While chatting with Bleeding Cool‘s Brendon Connelly, director Jose Padilha discussed one of the ethical issues he sees within the concept of man who becomes a robotic corporate product. “Wars in the future are going to be fought with drones. We won’t send a plane with a pilot in, it will be drone. It’s getting that way now and ten years from now that’s how wars are going to be fought,” he explained. “But what if a drone goes wrong – who is to blame then? Do you blame the drone? And that problem asks if you can you consider a robot guilty of a crime. Or is it the corporation that made the robot that is guilty?” He also added, “How do you fight back against drones when you don’t have drones?”

Make your plans accordingly.

While speaking with The Capitol (via Comic Book Movie), actor Mark Ruffalo compared his fight against hydrofracking to his part in the film. “The great thing about ‘the Avengers’ and our superhero mythology is that they are people that fight for the common man over impossible odds, and for the betterment of the whole,” he said. “So in some ways, that whole mythology feeds into what I’m trying to do here.” Hydrofracking is a controversial technique that allows natural gas to be extracted from shale, but could have harmful sideffects to the air and water supplies in and around New York City.
Directed by Joss Whedon & starring everybody, release date: May 4th, 2012
IT WAS A LITTLE WINDY
That old joke about people in Los Angeles freaking out about the weather? Well, it has some basis in reality because our infrastructure is built around sunny, 70 degree days. When that standard gets tweaked too hard by the elements, the entire Southland collapses. Take today’s example: we get some unusually fierce winds. This means trees all over the county get uprooted and power goes out for thousands of people. Traffic grinds to a halt and nobody can make their morning cup of coffee. All because we never consider that maybe, just maybe, there might be a day where it isn’t perfect. Meanwhile, if any of you in the great, wide Internet discover something awesome, disheartening, or just plain weird, let us know! Take credit, come up with a clever nickname, or go anonymous. The choice is yours. Fresh rumors and movie news every weekday morning. I am Erik Amaya, bracing for the future threat of another windy night.
