The action-packed first trailer for "Star Trek Beyond" seems to have divided the audience, even as it drew a mixed response from franchise veteran George Takei. Well, star and co-writer Simon Pegg has a message for "Star Trek" fans who may not have liked what they saw: "be patient."

In fact, Pegg admitted at the London premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" that he "didn't love" the trailer either.

"It was surprising," he told HeyUGuys. "I kind of felt it to be the marketing people saying, 'Everybody come to see this film, it's full of action and fun,' when there's a lot more to it than that. I didn't love it, because I know there's a lot more to the film. There's a lot more story, a lot more character stuff and a lot more of what I would call 'Star Trek' stuff. But, you know, they've got to bring a big audience, they've gotta bang the drum."

Pegg added, "To the 'Star Trek' fans I'd say, 'Hang in there, be patient.'"

Directed by Justin Lin, "Star Trek Beyond" also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba. The film opens July 22.
