Following on the curtails of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Homecoming, which revitalized the wall-crawler, Sony has fast-tracked spinoffs featuring supporting characters from the world of Peter Parker. The studio announced earlier this year that one of the films would be "Silver & Black," a team-up movie starring Silver Sable and Black Cat, and we now have a release date for the entry.

According to a Friday evening report from VarietySilver and Black will hit theaters on Feb. 8, 2019, with Gina Prince-Bythewood not only directing the film, but also rewriting the script by comic book writer and Marvel Studios veteran Chris Yost. Westworld's Lisa Joy wrote a previous draft of the script.

Not much has been released officially by Sony about the film's plot line, but there have been rumors that the film's plot will consist of Silver Sablinova, a.k.a. Silver Sable, as a bounty hunter working for the U.S. government. She'll have her sights set on Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. Black Cat, a high-end burglar who has stolen from tons of people who now want to take her down. The film has said to have the vibe of a buddy movie in the vein of Thelma & Louise. Though it stars characters from Marvel's Spider-Man world, the film is not said to be a crossover with the current live-action Spider-Man franchise.
