Marvel Television and Netflix have debuted the first photo of Sigourney Weaver's villainous "Defenders" character, as well as revealing her name -- well, part of her name, at least.

Meet Alexandra, the antagonist of Marvel/Netflix's first team series, and the woman who is poised to make life hell for the heroes of Hell's Kitchen: Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist.

While her character has no obvious Marvel Comics counterpart (there is an Alexandra Draguno with armor and a minor grudge against Iron Man, though the name is the only similarity we can see), viewers shouldn't take her lightly. "Her character is a very powerful force in New York City," show runner Marco Ramirez told Entertainment Weekly. "She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous."

Odds are, Weaver's character is a new one, created for the series, or possibly an amalgamation of existing comics characters. It was revealed in EW's cover story that the Defenders will form at Midland Circle, where Daredevil and Elektra found the enormous hole in the middle of the city, while the accompanying video states that Danny Rand is the only team member who truly understands what is happening. Could she be a high ranking member of the Hand? Or is "Alexandra" simply a misdirect, designed to hide her true name?

“I am doing The Defenders, which is a lot of fun. It has a wonderful cast, and we’re doing it right here in New York, which means a lot to me,” Weaver said of her work on the series in late 2016. “Basically the four heroes come up against this really nice woman, who I’m playing. It’s been a blast and I really love my character. I love the shows, too, which I wasn’t familiar with before doing this. A real love letter to New York. To me they’re not superheroes; they’re people with a gift. It’s just a different scale, and I’m really enjoying the scale of it. The apocalyptic thing is a little harder for me to understand.”

Executive produced by Douglas Petrie, Marco Ramirez, Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb, “Marvel’s Defenders” arrives on Netflix in 2017 and stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Simone Missick, Elodie Yung, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Rosario Dawson, Rachael Taylor, Scott Glenn, Jessica Henwick and Sigourney Weaver.
