As the “Avatar 2” rumors start to heat up — what with a potential release date for the film having already been announced — it’s not surprising that some other news surrounding the project has surfaced. Sigourney Weaver, star of the last film, who is also slated to return in the sequels, recently gave an update on the hotly anticipated follow-ups.
Speaking to Variety about her role in “A Monster Calls,” Weaver touched briefly on the upcoming “Avatar” sequels, calling the three scripts that she’s read “many times more amazing than the first one.” She described the first film as James Cameron doing a lot of “heavy lifting,” in terms of setting up the scope of the universe, and establishing the various relationships in the film.
With “Avatar 2” slated for release sometime in December 2018 (most likely the 21st, as previously reported), it shouldn’t be surprising to see more information trickle out from the land of the Na’vi in the not-too-distant future…
