Shelf Porn Saturday | File under A for ‘awesome’

by  in Comic News Comment

Saturdays are great, but what can make them greater? Shelf porn! Today’s collection comes from Charlie Whittle, who has a really clean set-up for his comics, statues and other fun stuff, including a nice Eaglemoss collection and filing cabinets for his single issues.

If you have some shelves of comics, action figures or other related collectibles you’d like to show off, send me a write-up and some jpgs at jkparkin@yahoo.com.

Now let’s hear from Charlie …

Hi my name is Charlie. I have a modest comic and sci-fi collection I’d like to share. My main interests are silver/bronze age Marvel and DC comics; however I’ve been known to pick up Eaglemoss figurines, statues and random sci-fi memorabilia from time to time. These photos don’t include my entire collection but showcase more of the design style I like to incorporate into my collecting. I’m very picky in what I buy and display, and blame it on my mild obsessive compulsive disorder. I currently use two IKEA Expedit shelves and a filing cabinet to hold my collection. Altogether this holds roughly 3,200 books. All my comics are bagged only in E. Gerber Mylites2 brand bags which I highly recommend over the more commonly found polyester bags. In fact, I would not recommend using a filing cabinet for comic storage without the mylar bags. My wife and I constructed a somewhat complex adjustable divider in the inside of the cabinet to keep everything snug. We like to incorporate a bit of craftiness in our collecting (note the baseball bat cases converted to Eaglemoss displays). Any important events like first appearances, deaths, etc. are noted on the outside of our comics. It’s a lot of work but between the upkeep, decorating and constant hunt for more we always have a blast!

Thanks for sharing my collection!
