Hi. My name is Alex Rae. This is my Dork Den. It's not a large room but I think I found a way to pack it all in.

I'm really into carded figures but I only have so much space. I tend to collect mostly stuff from the 80’s to present. I go in waves one year its all about Transformers the next it's the Muppets. Right now I am into Doctor Who and Star Trek, trying to get a lot more vintage item from those franchises.

I started collecting when I was 8. I used to collect sports cards and the local shop I went into also sold comics. At some point I was going in like every other day. The owner noticed this, and one day he said I could take some free comics (I think they where in a 25-cent bin). That was the end. I started collecting comics after that and have yet to stop. Around 1997 I moved to another town. I found a LCS ( Colzac Comics in VA, RIP and Laughing Ogre Comics, VA) and started my first pull list. Then I noticed they started carrying Toys. So I started buying anything that was DC. After that it was all downhill. Other shops in the area, comic conventions and the Internet. I have been constantly buying toys and comics since then.

I moved to New York about six years ago. Since then Toy Tokyo and Midtown Comics are my dealers. It also helps that five years ago I became the back-issue manager and buyer of vintage toys and comics. (You can see me on Comic Store Heroes on Netflix!) (Shameless Plug.) Now I get first dibs on all incoming items, which sounds great except for my crest card bills at the end of the month. I hope you enjoy my pics!
