Shazam, G.I. Joe, Iron Man: February 25th Comic Reel Wrap

SHAZAM

According to IESB, director Peter Segal revealed that the film will actually be called “Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam.”

G.I. JOE

A report on the website for the Czech Film Commission shows that the gun-toting production is headed to the European country to film.

IRON MAN

CBR News has in-depth coverage of this weekend’s Wondercon panel and the footage shown there.

Screen Rant has a look at the new poster for the movie, and the story from Marvel is that the new trailer will debut on Lost this week.

THE DARK KNIGHT

As we like to do, news of one billionaire vigilante follows another. On the trailer front, Dark Horizons had this to say: “the next trailer for the film, this one featuring more Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) and Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is rumored to be premiering with ‘10,000 B.C.’ on March 7th.” Good to know.

Will Dr. Harleen Quinzel make an appearance? A note on actress Sarah Jane Dunn’s management page claims she worked in the sequel, playing the female foil for the Clown Prince of Crime.

Finally, Wizard Insider has a discussion on how the Joker’s look was developed.

INCREDIBLE HULK

Hasbro has launched a new website with toys from the movie, which could give some clues as to which way the production is headed. Also, the Hulk has an audio greeting for you, so that’s kind of cool.

SMALLVILLE

New episode trailer is on YouTube

… and you can catch screen captures at Kryptonsite. They also have the spoiler-y official network description for the March 13th episode “Hero.”

WANTED

Superhero Hype and IGN both have break downs of the footage from this weekend’s Wondercon panel showcasing the Mark Millar adaptation, but only IGN lets you see it …

PUNISHER: WAR ZONE

Speaking of guns, comics and movies, actor Doug Hutchison let slip some spoilers in this interview with Italian site Comicus. Without letting all the cats out of their respective bags, he said, “This movie will be nothing like any of the previous ‘Punisher’ films. In fact, it’s not a sequel. It’s its own entity. ‘Punisher: War Zone’ is going to blow you away visually. It will be very close to the “look” of the graphic novel. The lighting, the sets, the costumes, the style: all of it is going to have a dynamic gothic gritty urban timeless feel. I think it’s going to look as stunning as something like ‘Blade Runner.'”

GREEN LANTERN

In a story at Newsarama, writer Michael Green (coincidentally) noted that he was hard at work on bringing some Oan energy to Earth. “I’m co-writing it with Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, the best people you could hope to get stuck in a room with for any length of time,” Green said. “As for status, we’re writing it now and having way too much fun doing it.”

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE

ABC News is reporting that the production is moving from New Zealand to Australia. “Wolverine’s producers have chosen Sydney as the base for this production ahead of Canada, thanks to our key infrastructure at Fox Studios and our talented crew base,” said New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma.

A story at Film School Rejects claims that actor Kevin Durand will play Fred Dukes, The Blob.

Finally, there’s shots at Just Jared showing actors Liev Schreibner and Dominic Monaghan (who play Sabretooth and Beak respectively) enjoying lunch together in Sydney, Australia.

DC: NEW FRONTIER

CBR News has a special feature on creator Darwyn Cooke’s Wondercon panel spotlighting the upcoming animated feature.

13 GAME OF DEATH

An article at Comics2Film notes that the adaptation of the manga graphic novel “My Mania” comes to domestic DVD on March 18th.

WONDER WOMAN

World’s Finest reported that “Serenity” fan fave Nathon Fillion will voice Colonel Steve Trevor in the proposed direct-to-DVD animated flick.

ON LOCATION

Email’s still down for the Comic Reel Wrap, so apologies for any delays in responses.

Anyhoo, we can’t do this without you. The rumors, the scoops, the set photos — they’re all fueled by passionate fans emailing in the goods. The ones who ask, “What do you mean your sister’s dating somebody who works for Miles Millar?” The ones who know the code names of movie projects and scour city permit filings for them. The devoted, the involved. Fans, just like you. Whatever you know, we wanna know, and whether you want your name shouted to the web’s rafters or kept closer than a classified report, we’ve got you covered like a comforter. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is your humble scribe Hannibal Tabu saying thank you for your time and indulgence, and [tagline due to return with new WGA drafts shortly].
