Retro gamers can rejoice, as classic title Shadow Man is getting a remastered re-release to cast a voodoo spell on its fans all over again.

Valiant Entertainment has teamed up with Nightdive Studios to reinvent the classic title for a modern audience. "Our goal with the remaster is to give today’s generation of gamers all the features that they expect from a modern title while preserving the qualities that made Valiant’s iconic character and the original Shadow Man game such memorable classics to begin with," Nightdive Studios CEO Stephen Kick said in a statement.

In 1999, Acclaim Entertainment released Shadow Man on the Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Sega Dreamcast and PC. The story followed a young man called Michael LeRoi, who became embroiled in a battle between the living and the dead. With LeRoi selected as the new Shadow Man, he used his powers to flip between the worlds of Liveside and Deadside to defeat a villainous entity known as Legion.

Although Nightdive remastered Shadow Man for PC in 2014, the studio is now working on a complete overhaul of the game that will include 4K widescreen display, dynamic shadow mapping/per-pixel lighting, refined art and audio, as well as content that was previously cut from the original. Alongside this, Valiant is releasing an accompanying comic series with Shadow Man #1 by Cullen Bunn and Jon David-Hunt.

Shadow Man: Remastered has yet to receive an official release date, but it's will be available on PlayStation4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam and GOG). Meanwhile, Shadow Man #1, by Cullen Bunn and Jon David-Hunt, goes on sale May 20 from Valiant Entertainment.
