A new teaser image from the official DC Comics Instagram account hints that Sgt. Rock will make an appearance on "DC's Legends of Tomorrow." This follows a handful of other images, which featured Ma Hunkel's pot helmet, Hourman's hourglass and the Golden Age Sandman Wesley Dodd's gas mask.

This G.I. is the cornerstone of his unit. The men who follow him into battle know one thing for certain: nothin's easy in Easy Company. When a filter is applied, the image reveals Sgt. Rock's name.

Sgt. Franklin "Frank" John Rock debuted at DC Comics in Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert's "Our Army at War" #83 in 1959. Years later, the character -- a World War II veteran -- assumed the lead of his own series, "Sgt. Rock." He served as an infantry non-commissioned officer and saw battle in North Africa, Italy, and Northwest Europe.

The show's already traveled to 1975 and has stops to make in the 1980s, the year 2046, the late 1950s and the Old West. Considering the nature of the show, appearances by Golden Age heroes like Sgt. Rock and Sandman are plausible.

Airing Thursday nights at 8 pm EST on The CW, "Legends of Tomorrow" stars Caity Lotz as White Canary, Brandon Routh as the Atom, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein (one-half of Firestorm), Franz Drameh as Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (the other half of Firestorm), Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl and Arthur Darvill as time-traveler Rip Hunter.
