Sony's adaptation of the Uncharted video game series has been without a director, with both David O. Russell and Neil Burger walking away from the property. Now The Hollywood Reporter has word that Seth Gordon has stepped up to the plate.

It's a return to video game glory for the filmmaker, who made his feature debut with the documentary King of Kong. Since then, Gordon has been behind the lens on comedies like Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief. Uncharted marks a significant shift for him.

Uncharted follows Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter and descendant of legendary explorer Francis Drake, on the hunt for the lost golden city of El Dorado. Three games have been released in the franchise, with a fourth on the way.
