Send Us Your Shelf Porn!

Is it a bird? A plane? No, it’s Shelf Porn, defender of truth justice and awesome-looking bookshelves everywhere.

Today’s entry, in fact, comes all the way from Sydney, Australia, courtesy of Superman fan Steve Younis, who, appropriately enough, runs the Superman Homepage Web site. It’s quite the extensive array of Kal-El-related material, so I’ll bypass the usual blah-de-blah and get right to Steve and his collection:

I began seriously collecting in the mid-1990s, with many of the items purchased online (as I live in Australia). The room is first and foremost my office space. It’s from here that I run and maintain the SupermanHomepage.com web site, and is also where my weekly “Speeding Bulletin” news videos are filmed.

Some of my prized possessions in my collection include a swatch from a George Reeves Superman cape, a Randy Bowen “Seinfeld” Superman statue, an issue of “Superman #12” from 1941, and the George Award presented to me at the Metropolis, Illinois Superman Celebration in 2008.

The collection contains everything from posters, action figures, figurines and statues, T-shirts, magnets, watches, books, comics, DVDs, CDs, cassettes, records, games, jewelry, clocks, calendars, trading cards, standees, mugs and glasses, cookie jars, blankets, bed covers, boxer shorts, etc…
