Fans turned out in droves for Comic-Con International in San Diego's yearly World of Capcom panel. Along with discussion of a number of highly-anticipated games for 2013, the company also dropped a bombshell, announcing the return of arcade legend Strider Hiryu in a new, self-titled game.

After a quick a trivia contest, with winners walking away with a Capcom swag bag, and an overview of Capcom Store exclusives, it was time to get down to business. First was the Xbox One exclusive "Dead Rising 3", which will be released for the next-generation system later this year. In the game, you take on a whole new horde of zombies, crafting hybrid killing devices like the Flaming Saber and the Boomshot -- a combination of a shotgun and hand grenades -- from existing weapons.

A comical clip from the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game "Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies" was next, featuring a humorous courtroom battle between evil lawyer Simon Blackquill -- and his bird! -- and one of the series' heroes, Apollo Justice. The game will release as a 3DS eShop download later this year.

"Ultra Street Fighter IV," first unveiled at the EVO 2K fighting event last week is an upgrade to the popular fighting game. It features five new characters, six additional stages and a variety of tweaks as suggested by members of Capcom's community. The game will release early next year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC as both a separate retail game and an optional upgrade for those who own a previous copy of the game, priced at $39.99 and $14.99, respectively.

"DuckTales Remastered," one of the company's most anticipated games of the year, was next. Producer Ray Jimenez led the audience in a sing-along to the theme song, then showed some of the development process that the team at WayForward put into the new version of the platforming game. It'll arrive on August 13 for PlayStation 3, PC and Wii U eShop, and a month later on Xbox Live.

Capcom's big-budget sequel "Lost Planet 3" was promoted with a new story trailer featuring a grizzled antagonist battling the odds on snowy planet E.D.N. III against hordes of evil aliens. Though no new gameplay was shown, it is playable on the Comic-Con show floor this week, at Capcom's booth. The game will release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on August 27.

Finally, the company delivered the afternoon's big surprise -- a reboot of the classic arcade game "Strider." In this beautiful 2.5-D side-scrolling action/adventure, you play as the legendary swordsman Strider Hiryu as he cuts his way through evil armies, including foot soldiers, flying vehicles and heavily armored bosses.

As in the original arcade release, Strider is able to use his iconic sword, but he also has new abilities. He can throw projectiles to hit enemies from afar, and also level up his sword -- or cypher -- with special powers, including "reflect," which lets you bounce bullets into enemies; "bot option," which surrounds your character with super-powered droids; and "explosive," a power-up that lights your sword on fire, burning up enemies and letting you into new areas.

The game, developed by Double Helix ("Killer Instinct") with some assistance from key members behind the original "Strider" game, will arrive in early 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
