After airing its initial season on CBS, the Melissa Benoist-starring “Supergirl” series will migrate to The CW this fall, where it will join other Greg Berlanti-produced, DC superhero-starring shows that include “Arrow,” “The Flash” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” all of which share a continuity. What has come to be known by many fans as the “Arrowverse,” after the Stephen Amell-starring show that first spawned the interconnected small-screen superhero world, has grown into one of the most vibrant adaptations of comics to date, with shows annually crossing over and heroes sharing screen time. Last season, Grant Gustin‘s “Flash” visited the National City of “Supergirl,” but now, it’s the Kryptonian’s turn to pack her bags.
In a new video released during Comic-Con International in San Diego, which you can watch below, The CW has fun with the superhero adaptations of yesteryear with a rundown that highlights the network’s history of superhero offerings while teasing what’s to come, punctuated by high-speed, radio-like narration. Also featured is choice classic and modern images of the DCU, rendered by many of the finest talents in comics.
“You look like the attractive yet non-threatening cast of a CW show,” Calista Flockhart’s icy mogul Cat Grant muttered in last year’s “Supergirl”/”Flash” crossover event. Looks like she was right.
