As Marvel's new Star Wars line heads to the end of its first year, it'll commemorate the occasion in a distinctly Marvel way: A crossover.

Announced Saturday at Comic-Con International in San Diego during Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada's trademark "Cup O' Joe" panel, the six-part "Vader Down" story will start with an oversized one-shot, before continuing into issues of the ongoing series "Star Wars" and "Darth Vader." "Star Wars" writer Jason Aaron and "Darth Vader" writer Kieron Gillen -- who have a history of collaboration dating back to their time on the X-Men books -- will write the story, illustrated by "Darth Vader" series artist Salvador Larroca and Marvel veteran Mike Deodato. Mark Brooks will illustrate covers for the event.

According to details released to press, the story sees Darth Vader, on his own, crash-landed and up against the forces of the Rebel Alliance. Along with Vader, fellow Star Wars headliners Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Chewbacca are mentioned as playing a part in "Vader Down," along with the newly introduced Aphra, who debuted in "Darth Vader" #3.

"Vader Down" #1 is scheduled for release in November. Keep reading CBR all weekend for the latest from Marvel and beyond, direct from Comic-Con.
