It's official: "Justice League Dark" is going to become an animated film. At the "Batman: The Killing Joke" premiere at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Gary Miereanu named three new DC Comics animated films, including "Justice League Dark."

Additionally, he announced "Teen Titans: The Judas Contact," which will debut next spring, as well as "Batman and Harley Quinn: A Bruce Timm Original," which arrives next summer.

Word first surfaced in November 2012 of a possible live-action, Guillermo del Toro-directed "Justice League Dark" film, based on the comic book series of the time starring John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman and more. Updates came periodically from del Toro at various events -- including a working title of "Dark Universe" -- though based on reports, the film never seemed to move past preliminary stages. It is unlikely that del Toro would be involved in this possible animated version of the film.

Though Del Toro has since moved on, he left a script with WB; a live-action version of "Justice League Dark" was originally set to explore the supernatural corners of the DCU under the watch of producer Scott Rudin.
