In the never-ending war to determine once and for all which Big Two comic publisher is definitively the best, America is inherently biased. Yeah, the capital of the United States is Washington, D.C.. Think about that for a sec — !
In all seriousness, Chris Gethard, host of Fusion’s “The Chris Gethard Show,” decided to take the totally subjective, most nerdy of all nerd fights extremely serious while at Comic-Con International in San Diego and petition con-goers to make a real difference by changing the country’s capital to Washington, MARVEL.
This bit is right in line with “The Chris Gethard Show,” a madcap, anything-goes, no-holds-barred and all emotions felt weekly late night experience that celebrates the bizarre and likes putting its host in awkward situations. It doesn’t get more awkward than trying to convince a guy wearing a Batman suit — not a Batsuit, a Batman suit — that DC sucks. Gethard even gets a word in with legendary “Batman” artist Neal Adams, who drops the most surprisingly coherent argument in the whole video.
And don’t take this as a mean-spirited video from an outsider trying to stir up a ruckus at SDCC. Gethard’s a bona fide comic book guy. Here’s a Robot 6 exclusive “TCGS” scoop: Gethard’s favorite superhero is Madrox the Multiple Man and he had a letter printed in “X-Factor” #105 where he lamented the character’s passing. The guy knows his stuff — and, full disclosure, I know that stuff because Gethard was my improv teacher back in 2007.
