Hurricane Harvey, which is currently causing unprecedented and catastrophic damage along the Texas coastline, could easily end up being the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history. However, longtime Batman writer Scott Snyder is proving that not all heroes wear capes by revealing that he’ll be donating his pay for the upcoming second issue of Dark Nights: Metal to the American Red Cross to help those affected by the devastating storm.
Snyder took to Twitter this afternoon to reveal how he plans to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey while encouraging others to do what they can support the relief efforts.

Those who follow Snyder on social media are no strangers to the writer’s kindness and accessibility, and it’s hardly uncommon to see posts from fans thanking him for things like buying them pizza while they wait in line for late-night signings. In fact, with the release of Dark Nights: Metal #1 earlier this month, Snyder went as far as to spend the entire night calling comic book shops across the country to thank them for supporting Metal and for hosting DC’s midnight release parties.
If you would like to help support the victims of Hurricane Harvey, you can find out how through the American Red Cross.
Dark Nights: Metal #2 will be available in stores and digitally September 19.
