Writer Scott Snyder is in the middle of DC Comics' Batman-centric event Dark Nights: Metal, but the World's Greatest Detective isn't the only gumshoe on his mind: He also has plans for Bobo T. Chimpanzee, aka Detective Chimp.RELATED: Case Closed: 15 Detectives Who Could Out-Sleuth Batman When asked by a fan on Twitter what other DC properties he'd like to write, Snyder mentioned a couple of more obvious contenders -- Justice League and Wonder Woman -- before dropping the name of Detective Chimp. Elaborating somewhat, he said he wants to pen a four-issue, prestige-format murder mystery that brings Detective Chimp back to his circus roots.

Introduced in 1952 by John Broome and Carmine Infantino in Adventures of Rex the Wonder Dog #4, Detective Chimp uses his genius-level intelligence and deductive skills to solve crimes. Following his debut, Detective Chimp appeared in backup features in Adventures of Rex the Wonder Dog until 1959, and then faded into obscurity. However, he returned in the 1980s for a series of cameos, including one in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and was featured somewhat prominently in 2005's Day of Vengeance and its spinoff series Shadowpact.

While it's anyone's guess if and when a Snyder-penned Detective Chimp series could actually come to fruition, the writer revealed that Bobo will make an appearance in Metal.

In the meantime, you can pick up Dark Nights: Metal #3, by Snyder and artist Greg Capullo, which goes on sale Oct. 11.
