"So, yeah... after this arc with All Star Batman, when I get to the story with Sean - which is the one I've been kind of waiting to do for three years or more - that to me very well might be the last Batman story that I do proper Batman for a while," Snyder revealed in an interview with Newsarama. "It's sort of a capstone to a lot of things I've been thinking about with him over the years," Snyder said.

Snyder launched All Star Batman in August 2016 with artist John Romita, Jr., after spending more than five years writing Batman in the New 52. All Star Batman has utilized an art team of Romita, Jr., Jock, and Giuseppe Camuncoli on rotating story arcs, with a collection of backup stories.

All Star Batman won't be Snyder's final time writing the Dark Knight, however. The writer will team with his Batman collaborator Greg Capullo for the DC-centric event Dark Knights: Metal, which is described as the former Batman team’s “rock ‘n’ roll epic.” According to DC Comics Co-Publisher Dan DiDio, the entire DC Universe is at risk in the event. “Not even just our world,” DiDio said, “but multiple worlds at risk.”

All-Star Batman #10, from Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuqerque, is in stores now.
