The creators of the “Scary Movie” franchise have found their next target in “Star Wars.” Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the minds behind such comedies as “Epic Movie” and “Vampires Suck,” will lampoon the long-running sci-fi series in their next planned film, “Star Worlds Episode XXXIVE=MC2: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi Who Went Rogue.”

And that’s not a joke.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Friedberg and Seltzer will write and direct the feature, which aims to begin shooting in the fall. Paul Hanson, Covert Media CEO, will produce and finance the film with Broken Road Productions.

"Jason and Aaron are a powerhouse duo who have proven time and time again that they are fully tapped into what audiences love," said Hanson. "Their fearless take on pop culture has us beyond thrilled to tackle the world’s most popular franchise with the two of them leading us into a galaxy far, far away."

“Star Worlds” is the second project in the works from Broken Road and Covert, the second being “Resurface,” an underwater thriller being directed by “The Dark Knight” and “Inception” visual effects supervisor Paul Franklin.
