Scarlett Johansson isn’t just the highest grossing actress of all time — she’s also the top grossing star overall for 2016.
Johansson, who has yet to score a solo movie for her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Studios franchise, has appeared in high-budget blockbusters like “The Avengers,” “The Prestige” and “Iron Man 2,” earning her the eighth spot on Box Office Mojo’s list of the highest grossing actors of all time in July. She was the highest ranking actress on the list.
Now, Forbes saysJohansson’s remarkable 2016, led by “Captain America: Civil War” and backed up by “The Jungle Book” and “Hail, Caesar!,” has made her the highest grossing actor of the year. Combined, her films pulled in $1.2 billion at the global box office.
“Captain America: Civil War,” which had a worldwide gross of $1.15 billion, helped to propel multiple stars onto the list, including Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, who tied for the number two spot. “Suicide Squad” star Margot Robbie landed at fourth with $1.1 billion, while “Arrival” star Amy Adams filled out the top five with $1.04 billion.
Rounding out the top ten were Ben Affleck ($1.02 billion), Henry Cavill ($870 million), Ryan Reynolds ($820 million), Felicity Jones ($805 million) and Will Smith ($775 million).
