The 30-second spot has Johansson character defining herself in a number of ways, claiming "I am hunted. I am the hunter. I am fearless. I am coming for them. I am Major," intercut with scenes from the live-action adaptation.

The video ties in with the film's social-media marketing campaign at IamMajor.me. On the website, "Ghost in the Shell" fans are invited to write a sentence that sums up their own character and upload a selfie so they too can become Major.

Based on Masamune Shirow’s popular cyberpunk manga, as well as Mamoru Oshii’s anime adaptations, the live-action film stars Johansson as a cyborg-human hybrid who leads Section 9, a task force assigned to stop cyber-criminals. Now they face a new enemy devoted to destroying Hanka Robotic’s artificial intelligence technology.

Directed by Rupert Sanders (“Snow White and the Hunstman”), “Ghost in the Shell” also stars Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, and Kaori Momoi. The films opens March 31.
