S.H.I.E.L.D. Set Photo Draws Line at Weapons, Alien Tech

S.H.I.E.L.D. certainly has some interesting rules, but what else would you expect from an organization that employs a transforming monster, a time-lost Super-Soldier, a pair of assassins, a ridiculously wealthy armor-clad raconteur and an other-dimensional demigod? With operatives like that running around, and all the evidence collected from their missions, S.H.I.E.L.D. needs to make sure everything’s in its place, hence the above sign reading “No weapons or alien tech beyond this point.”

The photo was tweeted out by executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen, who co-wrote ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot with Joss and Jud Whedon.

Set firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the project star Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge and Chloe Bennet with Avengers stars Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders hinting at the possibility of cameos.

Although the pilot only began filming late last month, ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee has said the “very Joss” project is likely to be picked up, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering it spins off from one of the most successful films of the decade. Lee has also confirmed the series takes place after the events of The Avengers. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see how they handle the apparent death of Gregg’s Agent Coulson in that film. Will he get the Vision treatment as many have suggested or will another explanation be given? Time and a series commitment from ABC — which, like Marvel, is owned by Disney — will tell.
