Deadpool is back, and Ryan Reynolds is ready to roll. Although he's compared the long-developing Fox project to "the worst relationship" he's ever had, the actor seems excited to finally return to Wade Wilson.

"The budget isn't what we hoped it would be," the actor joked to MTV, adding that the red-and-black flannel he was wearing would be the new suit.

"It's been a long time, and it's happening the right way, and that's all that matters," he said. "We don't have the kind of money that most superhero movies do, but that's great. Necessity is the mother of invention. That's why we get to make the movie we want to make."

Reynolds, who played the character previously in the much-maligned 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, wants to move forward with this new version helmed by first-time feature director Tim Miller, based on a script by G.I. Joe: Retaliation writers written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

"You've got to have faith in the people you're working with and the prep," he said. "On this one, the prep's been 11 years so you'd like to think you'll put your best foot forward, but we'll see."

When asked whether he had anything to do with the Deadpool test footage leaked in July, Reynolds replied, "No, no, no, I didn't leak it, but I would've." Response to that footage supposedly spurred Fox to move forward with the long-stalled project.

Deadpool is now scheduled to debut on Feb. 12, 2016.
