If you're a group of kids trick-or-treating while dressed up as a half dozen X-Men, quite possibly the coolest thing that can happen is getting a picture taken with an actual big screen mutant. Or, in the case of Deadpool, a mercenary with close ties to Marvel's mutants. That's just what happened to a group of little X-cosplayers over the weekend, as revealed in a tweet from Ryan Reynolds. The actor, who will play Deadpool in the 2016 film, posted a picture to Twitter of (presumably) himself as the merc posing with a group of kids in various X-Men costumes.

Dear Fox, stop changing the timelines. It's confusing the audience. #xmenassemble #happyhalloween pic.twitter.com/XkhejBLRWS- Ryan Reynolds (@VancityReynolds) November 1, 2015

The tweet also comes with a joke referring to the X-Men franchise's time-traveling nature. Thanks to the flashback trilogy of X-Men films launched in 2011 with "X-Men: First Class," the timeline of Fox's mutant movies has become a bit scattershot. 2014's "Days of Future Past" split time between the '70s and the future while 2013's "The Wolverine" was set in modern times. The time-twisting trend seems to be continuing, as 2016's "X-Men: Apocalypse" will take place in the '80s while "Deadpool" will most likely be set in the current year.

While it's not confirmed that that is actually Ryan Reynolds suited up in the pic, it seems likely considering that we know the actor swiped a Deadpool suit from the set once filming was over. If you have an official Deadpool suit, odds are you're going to bust that out on Halloween and every Halloween for forever.

"Deadpool" opens on February 12, 2016.
