Russell Crowe still has Cable on his mind. Earlier this week, Cable co-creator Rob Liefeld tweeted at the Academy Award winning actor and urged him to consider playing Cable in the upcoming “Deadpool” sequel and “X-Force” film. The two had a back and forth, with Crowe saying that if “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds wants it to happen, “he’ll find a way.”
A few days have passed and, as Crowe’s Twitter account reveals, he’s still entertaining the notion — or he’s at least entertained by all the fan art of himself as the gruff cyborg soldier. A fan tweeted a piece of art imagining Crowe as Cable, big metal arm and glowing eye and all, and the actor retweeted it at Rob Liefeld.

The art itself is worth a closer look — because it looks like Deadpool is taking in the view from behind Cable.

Cable’s involvement in the “Deadpool” sequel was revealed in the post-credits scene of the 2016 film. The part has yet to be cast, although there’s been speculation that actors like Kyle Chandler or Pierce Brosnan have been considered for the part.
Although best known for his roles in such films as “Gladiator,” “L.A. Confidential” and “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” Crowe is of course no stranger to superhero movies: He played Superman’s father Jor-El in 2013’s “Man of Steel.”
Directed by David Leitch (“John Wick”), the “Deadpool” sequel will once again star Ryan Reynolds, joined (so far) by Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Karan Soni as Dopinder and, presumably, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus.
