According to Birth.Movies.Death., "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi was hired to bring some levity to the script and Marvel is looking to cast several women as Valkyries in the film.

The report states Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle's "Thor: Ragnarok" script was so dark that "Marvel decided to hire a comedy director to bring a touch of lightness to the proceedings." What's more, the film will allegedly include the Valkyries, a group of women who usher Norse warriors to Valhalla once they've died in battle.

The report comes on the heels of a rumor that claims Mark Ruffalo, who played Bruce Banner/Hulk in "Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron," will appear in "Thor: Ragnarok" on a "distant planet" that is "not Asgard and not Earth."

Marvel veterans Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost will co-write the next installment of the God of Thunder's solo big-screen adventures. Starring Chris Hemsworth, "Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to open on July 28, 2017.
