According to Latino Review, "The Notebook" star Rachel McAdams will play Christine Palmer, a surgical assistant, in the upcoming "Doctor Strange" film.

Palmer, also a night shift nurse, is one of several characters to take up the Night Nurse mantle, albeit briefly. She appeared as the main character in 1973's "Night Nurse #4."

While no official word has been given from Marvel or Disney, this development follows a report from July stating that the studio was eyeing McAdams for the female lead opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. McAdams later confirmed that initial report.

Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange will be joined by Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. Marvel confirmed both of those actors' involvement in mid-August following initial reports occurring in May and June.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, "Doctor Strange" opens on November 4, 2016.
