Following Tom Hardy's departure from "Suicide Squad" and Jake Gyllenhaal's lack of interest in replacing him, the role of Rick Flag in the David Ayer movie remains unclaimed. Now, unnamed sources close to the Warner Bros. film have told CinemaBlend that two actors may be up for the role: Joel Edgerton and Jon Bernthal.

Edgerton recently starred opposite Christian Bale in Ridley Scott's "Exodus: Gods and Kings" and was previously seen in "Zero Dark Thirty" and the Star Wars prequels, where he played a young Owen Lars. Edgerton seems like the dark horse candidate, though, considering Bernthal's relationship with "Squad" director David Ayer. Bernthal, who played Shane on "The Walking Dead," previously worked with Ayer on the 2014 World War II film "Fury."

Additionally, CinemaBlend's mystery source claims that Gary Sinise has joined the "Suicide Squad" cast in an unnamed role, and Joe Manganiello is in talks to suit up as Deathstroke in the film.

"Suicide Squad" is set to be released on August 5, 2016. Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Will Smith and Cara Delevingne are all confirmed to star in the film.
