Actors Ron Perlman and Selma Blair, who starred in Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy films, have shared their responses to this week's new trailer for director Neil Marshall's reboot.

Perlman’s Instagram post is a Netflix video montage featuring his Hellboy portrayal alongside Blair and actors Jon Hurt, Rupert Evans and Jeffery Tambor. As for Blair, she shared a Polaroid of her posing alongside Perlman, who is in full red body makeup, with the caption, "This man, @perlmutations , forever my #Red ❤️. You are always the realest deal, a diamond. #guillermodtoro #ronperlman#dougjones #selmablair. #bprd. #tbt. 🔥 #polaroid"

Blair's response shows how much she loved working with Perlman and on the film itself, while his video reminds us of the 2004 and 2008 movies with smooth R&B lyrics, a shirtless Hellboy his love of kittens. Doug Jones, who portrayed Abe Sapien in the films, echoed similar sentiments of missing his Hellboy brother and sister alongside the comments from fans on social media.

Perlman was a vocal advocate for the completion of the del Toro's Hellboy trilogy, but when negotiations fell short he gave the reboot and the new Hellboy, portrayed by Stranger Things' David Harbour, his blessing and moved on. Blair also wished the new movie and Harbour the best going forward, but said her heart is still broken over the unfinished business with the franchise.

Instead of being bitter and upset over circumstances outside of their control, Perlman and Blair have chosen to remember the good times and according to the comments section on both posts, their portrayals are still considered synonymous with the characters and loved by their fans. Mignola has also discussed how Perlman and Harbour's Hellboy portrayals differ.
