Ahead of his debut on "Star Wars Rebels" this Saturday, a new promo for the episode touting Saw Gerrera's involvement has been released. The new spot makes clear "Star Wars Rebels'" connection to the feature film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," including footage from the blockbuster intercut with animated footage from the upcoming episode. The promo reveals that the crew of the Ghost will be dispatched to rescue Saw, who will be voiced by Forest Whitaker. Once they encounter the Rebel extremist, however, it looks like the crew will have a different idea of what it means to rebel.

Voiced by Andrew Kishino, Saw Gerrera debuted in the 2012 “Clone Wars” episode “A War on Two Fronts,” where he was a leader of the Onderon rebels in the fight against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. His arc played out over the subsequent three Season Five episodes. "Rogue One" catches up with Saw Gerrera right before the events of 1977's "A New Hope." "Rebels," which takes place a few years before "Rogue One," will fill viewers in on what Saw was up to in-between his debut in "The Clone Wars" and his appearance in "Rogue One."
