"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" star Diego Luna is reportedly in talks to join Ellen Page in Sony's remake of the sci-fi thriller "Flatliners."

Niels Arden Oplev, who helmed the Swedish adaptation of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” is set to direct from a script by Ben Ripley (“Source Code”). According to TheWrap, production is targeted to begin in early July.

Directed by Joel Schumacher, the 1990 original starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt as medical students who conduct experiments on each other to produce near-death experiences in order to learn about the afterlife. Naturally, those experiments go horribly awry.

TheWrap notes the cast of the remake is expected to be "more inclusive and international" than that of the Schumacher version.

Luna's credits include "Open Range," "Criminal," "Milk," "Elysium" and "The Book of Life."
