A new Japanese trailer has arrived for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," revealing additional footage both intimate and large-scale, including an awe-inspiring look at the destructive power of the Death Star, and a few more seconds of Darth Vader.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film is set just before the events of 1977's "Star Wars," and follows a group of unlikely heroes who band together on a dangerous mission to steal the plans for the Galactic Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction, the Death Star.
"Rogue One" stars Felicity Jones as ex-criminal turned Rebel sergeant Jyn Erso; Diego Luna as Rebel Intelligence Officer Cassian Ando; Ben Mendelsohn as Director Orson Krennic; Donnie Yen as blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Îmwe; Mads Mikkelsen as as Jyn’s father Galen Erso; Alan Tudyk as Rebel-owned Imperial enforcer droid K-2SO; Jiang Wen as freelance assassin Baze Malbus; Riz Ahmed as ex-Imperial pilot Bodhi Rook; and Forest Whitaker as Clone Wars veteran Saw Gerrera.

The first of the "Star Wars" standalone films, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" opens Dec. 15 in the United Kingdom and Dec. 16 in the United States.
