SPOILER WARNING: This article contains spoilers for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which is in theaters now.

"Rogue One" has already proven itself to be critical and box office success, owing largely to its innovative expansion of the original trilogy's canon and its intense action sequences. One of the film's many highlights, of course, is the brief reappearance of Darth Vader -- first at his imposing Sith stronghold on what we now know to be Mustafar, and later as he slices and dices his way through Rebel forces near the movie's conclusion. Both scenes offer some pretty great fan service, with the former providing a glimpse of Vader's day-to-day activities -- which admittedly appears to largely consist of lounging in a Bacta tank. Recent "Rogue One" concept art revealed a more detailed look at the Sith in repose, showing off Anakin's frail state outside of his iconic suit.

io9 posted an illustration of a closer shot of Vader floating inside the Bacta Chamber, showing off his numerous injuries sustained in "Episode III's" final duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the sketch itself is certainly pretty in its own right, it's still a bit horrific to see what remains of the fallen Jedi. Check out a closer look below.

Audiences who've already seen "Rogue One" will notice that the final depiction left quite a bit more to the imagination, providing only brief glimpses of Vader's body as the tank drained. Regardless, he still proved a pretty terrifying figure once he was suited up and taking out the Rebel scum during the climactic battle.

"Rogue One," starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Ben Mendelsohn, Forrest Whitaker, Donnie Yen and James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader, is in theaters now.
