2. What was the last good book (not comics) that you read?
Nonfiction: The Mercury 13: The True Story of Thirteen Women and the Dream of Space Flight by Martha Ackmann
Fiction: I'm currently reading Heartsick by Chelsea Cain
4. What's the worst job you've ever had (comic industry or otherwise)?
Hm. Tough call. Medical Assistant, maybe? I did post-operative wound care, which included packing a lot of pilonidal abscesses. That was the grossest job, anyway. The most soul-crushing was probably working for a lawyer at a big insurance company.
5. If you were given the opportunity to spend 48 hours with absolutely anyone, living or dead, who would you spend it with and what would you do?
Well, let's assume it's understood there's no one I'd rather spend time with than my husband, but as that doesn't require a magic wand or anything (these days it sometimes feels like it does) that's not the most exciting answer.
Oddly enough, my friend Scott asked me the question years ago. His version was 24 hours. I answered that I'd choose to go for a walk with John Irving then retire to the W, order room service and write down everything I'd learned. When I was done, I'd watch something dumb on TV and fall asleep with the room service tray still on the bed.
Later that year, I got a birthday card from Scott offering to pick up the tab if I wanted a night at the W and making a joke about how John Irving wouldn't return his calls. I never took him up on it, but it was still one of the sweetest gifts I've ever received in my life. It was the listening part that meant so much to me. He listened; he remembered.
These days, the real fantasy for me is the time alone part, as sad as that sounds. As appealing as is hanging with Eleanor of Aquitaine or whatever, 48 hours of not feeling beholden to anyone is pretty sexy.
I'm sure that makes me sound like a horrible human.
17. Name one of your pet peeves. Why is it a pet peeve?
People finishing my sentences for me. I doubt that requires explanation.
25. Do you have any pets and if so, what do you have and what are their names?

30. What hobbies or interests do you have outside of comics?
Not as many as I used to, and it's a thing that concerns me as a person and as a creative professional.
The closest thing I have to a hobby anymore is letting myself get distracted while I scroll through Tumblr for promotional materials or Pinterest for reference images.
Feminist history, aviation history, collecting books and movies I never have time to read or watch…
