Roberto Orci, who co-wrote and executive produced The Amazing Spider-Man 2, says he's no longer "officially involved in" the Sony Pictures franchise. His former writing/producing partner Alex Kurtzman remains on board as producer, and as director of the planned Venom spinoff.

"I don't know what their plans are for that franchise," Orci tells IGN. "I don't ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I've read probably as much as anyone else. There's a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom -- there's an idea of Spider-Man's going to be one of these characters that's part of our business. He's such a popular character. Spider-Man's not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined."

In January, Orci talked about the Spider-Man franchise, but by April he and Kurtzman went their separate ways, with Orci turning his attention to co-writing, and possibly directing, Star Trek 3. As of last week, however, Paramount Pictures has yet to make that gig official.

At this point, the Spider-Man franchise includes plans for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Kurtzman's Venom and Drew Goddard's The Sinister.
