Move over, Archie! Josie and the Pussycats are in town and they're the talk of The CW's "Riverdale." During a set visit, Ashleigh Murray -- who plays the band's eponymous band leader -- offered CBR and other reporters a brief preview of her singing voice and also addressed her own musical background.

Murray chose to cover Christina Aguilera's "Save Me From Myself," singing a snippet of the song's refrain.

"I just happen to be able to sing!" she said with a laugh, when asked about her musical background. "I come from a family of singers. My mom is a singer. My grandmother is a singer. My grandfather was a pianist. I am blessed enough to have an artistic stock that I've come from, and also I'm actually able to utilize that. I mostly just sing to myself or at karaoke, so the fact that I'm singing as myself on this show is a little nerve-wracking, but it's a lot of fun."

As to whether or not a music album could come out of the show, she added, "Hopefully! That is the plan. We're definitely doing some original songs and some covers. I've got to tell you: it's really good. So much so that the episode that we just shot, Archie sings one of his original songs and I cried even after we cut. I came out and I was supposed to be doing another scene and I came on stage just to watch him work and it was quite moving, so hopefully we will have a CD for everyone to listen to once we're done."

Murray also dished on her affinity for cat ears, which began long before she was cast on "Riverdale." "A lot of times when I have to get up really early and I haven't had a lot of sleep that night and I have a long day ahead of me, to make myself feel better I'll just throw the cat ears on," she shared. "Even if I look so bummy from like the eyebrows down, I know I'm rocking it and this is where all the energy is coming from, so that's really kind of why I have them. Even before I got this, I just had cat ears, just because." Needless to say, she'll be rocking the same look in the upcoming series.

Starring K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, “Riverdale” will debut Thursday, January 26 at 9 pm on The CW. The series also stars Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle and more. “Breakfast Club” alum Molly Ringwald will also recur as Archie’s mother Mary.
