In "Faster, Pussycats! Kill! Kill!", the latest episode of "Riverdale," Josie and the Pussycats added an unexpected member: Veronica Lodge. Though Veronica's stint on the Pussycats was short, Ashleigh Murray (Josie) and Camila Mendes (Veronica) had plenty to say about the surprise performance. Speaking to CBR and other reporters, the two "Riverdale" stars talked about the Pussycats' diversity, whether or not the band will get more surprise guests and more.

"Well, we didn't invite [Veronica] necessarily, she forced her way in," Murray explained. "And that also was second to the idea of the conversation that [Josie] had previously with her mom. Her mom was like, 'remember the branding,' and I made the choice to be upset by that notion. Like, 'Okay, my mom wants to be sure that it's a woman of color and I get that, but what if somebody comes along and they aren't, but they can sing?' And then Veronica comes along and she fits the bill perfectly in every way: she has the talent, and also I can say 'Hey, mom! She's Brazilian! It's great! Now everybody's happy!'"

"And Veronica? It's great. How can you say no to Veronica? You can't! Archie didn't," she added.

"They didn't ask me if I could sing when I got the role, that was just something that sort of happened as we went," Mendes shared. "But Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] quickly realized that almost this entire cast is musical, like we all kind of have our own little things, so it's like why not take advantage of that? I've had a lot of sessions in the studio, and that has been super fun. I've never done that before, and making music on the show is another added benefit."

She also revealed that we'll see Veronica sing again before the end of the season. "She performs at Homecoming, and she performs at the very end," she teased.

As to whether or not the Pussycats will get any other surprise guest stars, Murray said, "In this season, no. I'm not sure if there will be in Season 2, if we're given one, but in this season, our two 'guest stars' are Archie and Veronica."

Starring K.J. Apa as Archie Andrews, “Riverdale” airs Thursdays at 9 pm on The CW. The series also stars Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle and more. “Breakfast Club” alum Molly Ringwald will also recur as Archie’s mother Mary.
